My water smells like rotten eggs. Is it dangerous?

At the concentrations we normally see in Central Texas, hydrogen sulfide is a nuisance rather than a health hazard — but it corrodes plumbing and makes water unpleasant to drink. It's very treatable.

Will a softener fix my iron staining?

A softener handles a small amount of dissolved iron, but past a low threshold it fouls the resin. Real iron problems need dedicated filtration ahead of the softener. That's exactly why we test first.
